The Ministry of Water and Equipment announced that Morocco’s reservoirs are 35% full as of Sunday, following recent rainfall.
The water stock in the dams has risen to 5.861 billion cubic meters, representing 34.8% of total capacity.
This improvement comes after several years of drought, marking the seventh consecutive year of low rainfall, which has severely impacted agriculture and water resources.
The ministry noted a 36.5% increase in water levels compared to the same period last year, giving farmers hope for a better season.
The heavy rainfall in recent days has helped boost reservoir levels, alleviating some of the country’s water scarcity challenges.
Morocco has long relied on its 149 large dams as a key part of its water strategy, ensuring a stable water supply for agriculture, drinking, and electricity generation.
