Police Officer suspended amid harassment investigation
Thursday 23 January 2025 - 21:53

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced the temporary suspension of a police officer, holding the rank of police sergeant, from Casablanca’s public security division. The officer is under investigation for alleged involvement in a criminal case, currently being examined under the supervision of the public prosecutor.

The administrative suspension, according to security sources, is a disciplinary measure reflecting the DGSN’s commitment to upholding integrity and professional ethics. The case will be referred to the National Police’s disciplinary council in an upcoming session to decide on further action.

The investigation was initiated after a woman filed a complaint accusing the officer of harassment while he was on duty along Casablanca’s coastal area. The officer has since been questioned and will face judicial proceedings, with his first appearance in court scheduled for Thursday, January 23.

In parallel with the legal proceedings, the DGSN issued the suspension as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen professional accountability, promote ethical governance, and ensure the equal application of the law.
