A deputy prosecutor at the Casablanca Court of First Instance has ordered the detention of Mohamed Amine N. in Ain Sebaa Local Prison (also known as Okacha) amid ongoing investigations.

The individual faces allegations of defamation, insults, and threats against a lawyer representing four detained suspects in a high-profile case involving the alleged rape of a French lawyer by the sons of prominent businessmen and investors.

The allegations stem from a leaked 15-minute audio recording of a phone conversation between the accused and a friend, widely shared via WhatsApp.

The recording contained false claims, breached confidentiality, and questioned the neutrality of the prosecution in the case.

The accused had previously filed and later dropped a complaint against the four detained suspects, alleging assault, battery, and detention.

He was arrested two days ago upon returning to Casablanca from a short vacation in Paris. The leaked audio reportedly included disparaging remarks about the lawyer in question, the daughter of a former high-ranking judiciary official, and defamatory claims about the investigative judge handling the case.

Sources close to the investigation refuted the claims made in the audio, asserting the judge maintained impartiality and followed due process.

The recording also revealed details of the suspect’s testimony before the investigative judge, where he denied witnessing or having any knowledge of the alleged rape.

The primary suspect in the case, Kamil B., has had his request for provisional release denied by the investigative judge. The defense has presented numerous witnesses who refute the rape allegations, including one witness who claimed the French complainant engaged in consensual sexual relations during the party at a villa in Ain Diab.

Furthermore, the complainant’s defense has reportedly failed to present compelling evidence or witnesses corroborating the alleged rape.

Medical examinations conducted by the complainant herself indicated drug use, specifically cocaine, and evidence of consensual sexual activity.

The case has sparked legal and public debates about the presumption of innocence in Moroccan criminal law. Despite the absence of conclusive evidence or direct testimony supporting the rape claims, the four suspects remain in custody.

Legal experts and observers are closely monitoring the proceedings, given the high-profile nature of the case and its implications for due process and justice.

The investigation continues as authorities attempt to balance transparency and fairness in this sensitive case involving significant societal and legal dimensions.
