The government council, chaired by Aziz Akhannouch on Thursday, November 14, approved a draft decree to grant temporary tax exemptions to companies involved in producing defense and security equipment.

Draft Decree No. 2.24.966 amends Decree No. 2.17.743 (issued June 19, 2018) to include the production of defense materials, weapons, ammunition, and security apparatus on the list of industrial activities eligible for tax relief under Article 6 of the General Tax Code.

Presented by Abdelatif Louidi, Minister Delegate for National Defense Administration, on behalf of Budget Minister Fawzi Lekjaâ, the decree aims to support the defense sector by providing these companies with a temporary exemption from corporate taxes.

The move is part of the government’s broader strategy to promote the local defense industry and strengthen national security capabilities.
