Head of Government vows to swiftly implement Royal vision for Moroccan expatriates

In application of the High Royal Directives, the government will seriously and swiftly implement HM the King’s vision for the diaspora, in order to meet the new needs of the Moroccan community abroad, said Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch on Thursday in Rabat.

Speaking at the opening of the Government Council, Akhannouch made reference to the Royal Speech of the glorious Green March’s 49th anniversary, where the Sovereign stressed the important role of the Moroccan community abroad, on equal footing with all the components of Moroccan society, in defending the legitimacy of the Moroccanness of the Sahara and the sacred symbols of the Nation.

In this speech, the Sovereign called on the government to usher a transformation in the management of the affairs of the Moroccan expatriate community, by restructuring the institutional framework of the “Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad” and creating the “Mohammedia Foundation for Moroccans Residing Abroad,” recalled Akhannouch.

In this respect, the Head of Government announced the first meeting to be held on Thursday with the ministerial departments concerned, which will be dedicated to examining the institutional and legal means and mechanisms enabling the optimal implementation of the High Royal Directives, and setting up an action program to restructure the bodies concerned with the affairs of the Moroccan community abroad, in line with the High Vision of HM the King.

Akhannouch also stressed that HM the King had called on the United Nations to shoulder its responsibilities in resolving the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, which has gone on for far too long, pointing out that the Sovereign had highlighted “the major difference between the real, legitimate world –represented by Morocco in its Sahara– and a time-frozen world which is disconnected from reality and the developments that have taken place,” represented by the opponents of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity.

On this occasion, he assured that all the components of the government will be mobilized to pursue the defense of the national question, in particular in this crucial period that the territorial integrity issue knows.
