The government approved Thursday a draft decree validating the official population figures for the Kingdom, in response to the results of the general population and housing census, conducted by the High Commission for Planning throughout September.
According to the decree, as of September 1st of this year, the Kingdom’s legal population stands at 36,828,330 people, reflecting an increase of 2,980,088 individuals—an 8.80% rise since the 2014 census.
The decree also reports that the total number of households identified in the census is 9,275,038, marking a significant increase of 1,961,232 households, or 26.82%, compared to 2014.
The census found 148,152 foreigners living in the Kingdom, an increase of 61,946 people, or 71.86%, compared to the 2014 figures, as confirmed by Minister of the Interior Abdelouafi Laftit’s signature on the document.
This update is part of the final phase of the 2024 population and housing census, which involved compiling and finalizing the results of the September survey.
The High Commission for Planning is set to release the detailed census results and all related data after the publication of the decree in the Official Bulletin.
