Significant weather changes are forecasted to begin today, with rainfall and thunderstorms expected across various regions, accompanied by a drop in temperatures.

Hussein Youabed, communication officer at the General Directorate of Meteorology, announced that starting tonight, a low-pressure system from southern Europe will bring cold and humid air masses to Morocco. This will result in the formation of thick clouds with rain, potentially leading to thunderstorms, especially in northern and central regions, the Atlas Mountains, the Rif, and parts of the east.

Today’s weather will be rainy, with localized strong thunderstorms in Tangier, Gharb, Saïs, the Rif, the Mediterranean coast, and southeastern regions. Light rain is expected tonight in the Atlantic plains north of El Jadida and in the eastern regions.

Youabed warned that temperatures will be relatively cold, with a chance of localized frost in the Atlas Mountains. Winds are also expected to be relatively strong in the Mediterranean, northern eastern regions, central Atlantic plains, and desert areas, with maximum temperatures ranging from 29 to 35 degrees Celsius in southern desert regions and between 12 and 18 degrees in the Atlas and Rif.

For Sunday, Youabed indicated that rain will continue in northern and eastern parts of the country, with strong thunderstorms possible in Gharb, Saïs, the phosphate plateaus, and other regions. Scattered light rain is also likely in the Atlantic plains north of Safi, with snow anticipated on the peaks of the Middle Atlas.

Monday’s forecast suggests that the low-pressure system will maintain rainy conditions, with localized thunderstorms in areas including Tangier and Loukkos. Snowfall is expected at elevations exceeding 2000 meters in the Atlas Mountains.

Temperatures are projected to decrease further, with cold weather persisting and localized frost possible in the Atlas and Rif regions, alongside strong winds in several areas.
