The Confederation of African Football fined Algerian club USM Alger USD40,000 for withdrawing from last season’s Confederation Cup semi-finals against Morocco’s RS Berkane, citing the display of a full Moroccan map on their opponents’ jersey.
Both the home and away legs were canceled, with CAF awarding Berkane a 6-0 aggregate win.
USM Alger announced plans to appeal the decision in a press release, claiming that the CAF’s rulings and regulations were not properly followed during the matches.
The same source noted that the club has 60 days to pay the fine
