Spanish sports news outlet Marca dedicated significant coverage to the standout performance of Brahim Diaz alongside the Atlas Lions, during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The newspaper highlighted Morocco’s hopes of seeing Diaz win the African Ballon d’Or for 2024, following his impressive display against Gabon and his “technical marvel” goal scored against Lesotho.
Diaz is a leading contender for the award, Marca said, noting his achievements with Real Madrid in the 2023-2024 season, including the Champions League title and the UEFA Super Cup.
Marca’s report also emphasizes Morocco’s ambition to reclaim the African Ballon d’Or, a title last won by Mustapha Hadji in 1998.
