The Moroccan national team has secured first place in the 31st African Mathematical Olympiad, held at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg from August 10th to 20th.
According to a statement by the Ministry of National Education, Pre-Primary Education, and Sports, the Moroccan team scored a record-breaking 201 points, surpassing the previous highest score in the history of the Olympiad. Algeria came in second place with 186 points, followed by Tunisia with 133 points.
On an individual level, Moroccan competitors won three gold medals and three silver medals. Yasine Kmouh from Casablanca-Settat region earned a perfect score of 42/42, securing a gold medal. Adam Mehdan from Souss-Massa region and Sami Moussaoui from the Oriental region also won gold medals with scores of 35/42 and 33/42, respectively.
