Building on its success in the automotive sector, Morocco is experiencing explosive growth in aerospace manufacturing. With exports surging 18% in the first five months of 2024 alone, Morocco’s aerospace industry is generating billions in revenue.
Industry officials attribute the surge to increased aircraft assembly, growing pool of skilled labor, and attracting interntional aviation giants.
The government has invested heavily in training facilities to meet the industry’s demand for skilled workers.
Partnerships with global aerospace giants like Airbus and Boeing have brought advanced technology and investment to the country.
These partnerships are not only generating jobs but also facilitating technology transfer and boosting the country’s export capabilities.
A cornerstone of this growth is the recent opening of SABCA Morocco’s plant near Casablanca, which is churning out major components for the PC-12 aircraft.
The country isn’t stopping there. A strategic partnership with Collins Aerospace, inked at Farnborough Airshow, is set to create a robust supply network within Morocco’s borders.
To further bolster its aerospace ecosystem, Morocco is filling a critical gap in its supply chain. By teaming up with Gal Aerospace, the country is poised to become a major player in the production of aircraft interior components.
The Spanish group ACITURRI is also joining the Moroccan aerospace adventure. Their decision to set up shop in the Moroccan Midparc industrial acceleration zone will not only create jobs but also foster technology transfer and skill development in engine component manufacturing.
These partnerships are set to help Morocco implement its ambitious roadmap, which includes assembling entire aircraft domestically by 2030.
This vision, coupled with a focus on sustainability and expanding into new markets, positions Morocco as a major contender in the global aerospace race.
