Hespress has learned from well-informed sources that as part of the National Office for Health Safety of Food Products (ONSA) investigation, the majority of the analyses conducted by the office’s services on samples revealed that Moroccan strawberries are safe and comply with health conditions and standards.
The same sources, who did not want to be named, said that the bureau’s services conducted tests on various samples of strawberries produced by the Moroccan farm that produced the shipment that the European Union issues a warning against.
More than 30 samples all tested negative for Hepatitis A, according to the source, who explained that Morocco’s National Office for Food Safety is waiting for the results of the analysis of a single sample to confirm the safety and harmlessness of “Moroccan strawberries.”
The National Office for Health Safety of Food Products is waiting for the results of a single final sample to confirm the safety and health of Moroccan strawberries.
However, the results of the tests conducted on the many samples remain “promising and reassuring,” Hespress sources confirmed, adding that the laboratory tests are likely to confirm the “complete safety of the Moroccan product.”
The same sources stressed that strawberries sold in the local market or destined for export are “strictly monitored” by the National Office for the Safety of Food Products.
