Morocco kick starts new 2024 judicial year
Tuesday 16 January 2024 - 10:00

The new judicial year 2024 opened in Rabat on Monday, with the high approval of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, President of the Supreme Council of the Judicial Power (CSPJ).

In a speech on the occasion, Mohamed Abdennabaoui, First President of the Court of Cassation and Deputy President of the CSPJ, noted that the theme of the opening session of the 2024 judicial year, “The seriousness of judicial action, which depends on the credibility of ethical commitment”, illustrates the Court of Cassation’s support for King Mohammed VI’s call, in the 2023 Throne Speech, for all components of Moroccan society to demonstrate seriousness and intransigence.

The opening of the new judicial year, he stressed, was an opportunity to highlight the judicial activity of the Kingdom’s courts, the work of the Court of Cassation, and the programs to be implemented in the new year.

For his part, El Hassan Daki, the King’s Attorney General to the Court of Cassation and President of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, said that this official session, which was held in application of the High Instructions of King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, bears witness to the Sovereign’s constant concern for the judiciary.

The opening of the judicial year has become a long-standing official tradition, providing an opportunity to build bridges of communication with the various players in the field of justice, as well as an appropriate opportunity for the judiciary to open up to its environment, and to bring together professionals in the sector to assess its activities. It is also an opportunity to present the efforts made by magistrates and judicial executives over the past judicial year, and to consider the prospects for their work in the new year.

The meeting, attended by the President of the House of Councillors, ministers and government officials, as well as a number of personalities, was marked by the presentation of Royal Wissams that King Mohammed VI kindly awarded to magistrates.
