The Regional branch of the Justice and Development party (PJD) in Fez said that 93% of respondents believe that the actions of the Palestinian resistance on October 7 were a well-thought-out move that allowed them to reap gains and revive the cause.
Only 7% view it as a hasty action with little regard for consequences.
The party shared the results of a public opinion survey conducted within the framework of the “Young Politicians Forum” from November 7 to December 7.
The survey aimed to measure the extent of Moroccans’ engagement with ongoing events in the Palestinian territories and the impact of the Al-Aqsa storm on their opinions and stances.
The survey indicated that the Al-Aqsa storm was a carefully considered move that rekindled the cause.
The survey noted Israel’s brutal attacks on Gaza, describing them as unprecedented in history, with justifications like self-defense and eliminating terrorism.
According to the survey, Social media played a pivotal role in expressing rejection and condemnation of the injustice and oppression faced by the Palestinian population in Gaza.
The survey revealed that boycotting pro-Israeli products or companies supporting violations against Gaza was seen as a powerful message against the ongoing aggressions.
Approximately 89% of respondents actively participated in boycotting companies supporting Israel, while 81% supported the cause through engagement and interaction on social media. Around 60% participated in solidarity demonstrations.
The study indicated that Morocco was among the top five countries globally organizing protests related to the aggressions on Gaza.
By mid-November, more than 270 protests were recorded, following the United States, Yemen, Turkey, and Iran, according to data from ACLED.
Regarding potential solutions to the Palestinian cause, the survey showed that 90% of respondents believe in continuing resistance until the liberation of the occupied territories, while only 10% favor a two-state solution.
While 85% of respondents acknowledged Morocco’s official efforts, 13.5% considered them balanced, and only 1.5% deemed them advanced.
Only 4% of respondents believe that events in Gaza should not affect Moroccan-Israeli relations, while 96% believe that normalization should cease, and the liaison office should be permanently closed.
The position of Morocco was expressed through various official channels, including four statements from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
These statements expressed deep concern over the deterioration of the situation in Gaza, condemned attacks on civilians, and called for emergency meetings at the Arab League level.
The survey noted that Morocco, under royal instructions, sent two planes loaded with humanitarian aid to El Arish Airport in Egypt, intended for the Palestinian people.
A significant portion of the aid was coordinated for delivery to the Gaza Strip in collaboration with the Egyptian Red Crescent.
