Yassine Bounou won the best goalkeeper in Africa trophy at the CAF Awards ceremony this Monday, December 11 in Marrakech, ahead of his two competitors, Egyptian Mohamed El-Shenawy (Al Ahly) and Cameroonian André Onana (Inter Milan/ Manchester United).
The goalkeeper played a decisive role in the historic accession of the Atlas Lions to the semi-finals of the competition in Qatar and was just as successful with his former club, Seville, where he won the UEFA European League and the UEFA Super Cup. Bounou also became the best-ranked African goalkeeper in the history of the Ballon d’Or (13th place in 2023).
