A fast-food restaurant, Chamas Tacos, in Valence, France faced the threat of administrative closure on Wednesday evening, all due to a malfunctioning outdoor sign.
The sign’s letter “C” malfunctioned, causing the words “Hamas Tacos” to shine brightly in the night, a mishap that could easily lead to confusion, particularly during the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Valentine’s municipal police were alerted to this situation and swiftly intervened on Wednesday evening. They demanded the restaurant’s manager to completely switch off the illuminated sign and issued a warning of “administrative closure,” as documented in a video posted on TikTok and shared on X.
“The letter had been malfunctioning for months, and we had even received a quote for a facade renovation, the correlation never crossed my mind, neither mine nor my colleagues, as we didn’t perceive any underlying message,” said the manager.
According to the same source, the police indicated that it was a municipal official, not just a local resident, who made the “incomprehensible” report.
