Hespress AR has learned that “the number of Moroccan truck drivers who were stuck near Niger reached nine, five of whom succeeded in crossing, while the other four are still stranded due to malaria.”

According to a source from the Democratic Organization for Transport and Logistics, a member of the Democratic Organization for Labor, and the Union of Road Transport Drivers of West African Countries (UCRAO), who oversee the process of communication with Moroccan truck drivers, “311 trucks were allowed to cross by the Burkinabe army yesterday, Saturday, among them five Moroccan trucks.

According to the same source, “the process of crossing the five Moroccan trucks, along with other trucks, took place safely, after monitoring stability in the situation near the area where they were stuck.”

A Hespress AR source revealed that “four other Moroccan drivers are still stranded in the same area near Niger, due to their infection with malaria,” stressing that “their conditions are currently stable, and they are recovering from the injury they were exposed to, and it came due to the poor health conditions near Niger.”

According to the same sources, “the Democratic Organization for Transport and Logistics and the Union of West African Road Transport Drivers (UCRAO), through joint coordination between them, are in constant contact with Moroccan drivers who are still stranded near Niger, and Moroccan diplomatic efforts are speeding up time to secure transit.”
