Morocco saw the creation of 49,145 new businesses during the initial half of this year, as reported by the Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property Office (OMPIC).
These newly established enterprises were categorized into two segments: legal entities (33,565) and individual proprietors (15,580), according to OMPIC’s comprehensive report.
In terms of sector distribution, trade emerged as the leading sector, constituting 36.33% of the total, closely followed by building and public works (BTP) and real estate activities at 18.83%, diverse services at 17.88%, transportation at 8.11%, industry at 7.10%, hotels and restaurants at 6.19%, information and communication technologies (ICT) at 2.83%, agriculture and fishing at 1.75%, and financial activities at 0.98%, as detailed by the same source.
In terms of legal structure, the distribution of newly established companies encompassed 63.7% one-person limited liability companies (SARLAU), 35.9% limited liability companies (SARL), 0.2% public limited companies (SA), and 0.1% partnerships (SNC).
In terms of geographical distribution, the region of Casablanca-Settat led with 14,272 startups, followed by Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (7,268), Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (5,777), Marrakech-Safi (4,887), Fez-Meknes (3,507), Souss-Massa (3,099), Eastern region (3,046), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (2,491), Draa-Tafilalet (1,619), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (1,563), Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab (1,193), and Guelmim-Oued Noun (423).
