Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita denounced Israeli attacks in Jenin, saying that they “do not contribute to creating an atmosphere conducive to open dialogue.”
Bourita added, during his speech on the occasion of the sixth joint committee between Morocco and the Sultanate of Oman on Tuesday that, “Morocco rejects and condemns these Israeli attacks in Jenin,” stressing that “the current situation is very dangerous, and threatens what little peace remains in this region.”
The Moroccan minister stressed that “the Palestinian issue remains one of the priorities of the Arab peoples, and there is an international consensus on the need for a solution between the two states.”
The diplomat called for “urgent international intervention in order to stop the Israeli moves in the Palestinian territories,” and called for “an Arab diplomatic consensus regarding the Israeli moves.”
Bourita considered that “the convening of the joint committee between Morocco and the Sultanate of Oman knows a very distinct context, as the relations of our two countries are witnessing great progress under the leadership of the Sovereigns of the two countries.”
“Morocco is following with great interest the progress and prosperity of the Sultanate of Oman, especially on the economic level,” he said, noting that “Rabat considers Oman a quiet but influential actor in the region and its stability.”
“Today’s meeting came to evaluate the results of the Fifth Committee in 2019, by developing the legal framework, in order to enable the actors to enrich economic and entrepreneurial cooperation, by updating the legal framework, which is very outdated,” says Bourita.
“The two parties agreed to develop cooperation in many fields, and joint coordination of the visions of the two countries, whether through the development model or the 2024 vision of the Sultanate of Oman.”
The Moroccan official praised “the strong positions of the Sultanate of Oman on the issue of the Moroccan Sahara,” recalling that “Oman is one of the largest countries participating in the Green March.”
For his part, Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al-Busaidi said, “There are great ties that bring together the Moroccan and Omani peoples, which contribute to bridging the long distance between us.”
Al-Busaidi talked about the existence of “many common areas between the two parties for cooperation, whether through renewable energies, or investment in the commercial field, as well as small and medium enterprises.”
“Rabat and Amman are satisfied with the results of today’s meeting,” stressing that “the challenge is to follow up on this cooperation, and to continue coordination in order to download all the signed agreements.”
The Omani official praised the “autonomy proposal,” considering it “the final solution to the fabricated conflict,” stressing at the same time that “the Sultanate of Oman will continue its support for the Moroccanity of the Sahara.”
