Marrakech received a low friendliness score of just 3.69 out of 10 in the 2023 Community Spirit Index of the friendliest cities in the world, placing it as the second least welcoming city for visitors.

The index used six important parameters to identify the world’s friendliest and unfriendliest cities. Visitors’ likelihood to return, safety assessments, equality for LGBTQ+ people, general contentment, the ease of communication due to a shared language, and staff friendliness were among the metrics.

Marrakech has developed a reputation as a top tourist destination due to its rich cultural and historical legacy, providing travellers with the opportunity to partake in authentic experiences ranging from the most basic to the most lavish.

The Moroccan Ministry of tourism has proclaimed 2023 as a record-breaking year for the country’s tourist sector, demonstrating the industry’s rapid expansion and upward trend.
