Syrian President Bashar Assad arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday, his first visit to the wealthy Gulf nation since last month’s devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
According to Assad’s office, Assad, who came with his wife, Asma, and a delegation of Syrian officials, was greeted by UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In a tweet, Sheikh Mohammed said the two “held constructive talks aimed at developing relations between our two countries.”
