A national traveling exhibition exploring six decades of Moroccan painting opened Friday at the Daoudiate Cultural Center’s Art Gallery in Marrakech, bringing together works by pioneering and contemporary artists.
Held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, the exhibition, titled “60 Years of Painting in Morocco,” examines the evolution of Moroccan visual arts through different artistic movements, techniques and generations.
Organized by the Moroccan Union of Professional Visual Artists (SMAPP), the exhibition runs until November 30 and forms part of celebrations marking the Green March and Unity Day.
Marrakech is the exhibition’s third stop following Rabat and Casablanca.
A parallel exhibition at Khalid Fine Art Gallery pays tribute to Moroccan painter Omar Bouragba for his artistic career.
The program also included a symposium Thursday examining the future of Moroccan visual arts, bringing together established artists and younger practitioners to discuss changing artistic approaches.
