Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, affirmed on Monday that the ministry is pursuing, through several initiatives, the implementation of the sectoral plan of the official character of the Amazigh language.
Responding to a question on “the future of the implementation of the official character of Amazigh”, raised by the Haraki Group, Bensaid said that these initiatives include the celebration of the Amazigh New Year at the central and decentralized levels, the organization of Amazigh festivals, support for Amazigh cultural, artistic and literary works, in addition to the installation of 160 Amazigh-speaking agents at the level of some establishments under the culture sector, to strengthen the reception services.
In this context, he said that the ministry is working on the creation of a budget line dedicated to Amazigh studies, and the awarding of prizes in the framework of the Moroccan Book Prize, through the Amazigh studies prize and the Amazigh literary creation prize, in addition to the inclusion of the Amazigh tangible and intangible heritage in the UNESCO World Heritage List, the creation of the Amazigh version of the ministry’s website and the coverage of the works of the International Book Fair in Amazigh.
The ministry continues to adopt Amazigh in its announcements and activities, in addition to organizing training sessions in Amazigh for the ministry’s executives and officials, he added.
