Morocco’s Energy minister, Leila Benali spoke of Morocco’s potential partnership with Gautam Adani, Asia’s richest person, in terms of renewable energy, in an interview with Bloomberg.
The Moroccan government is considering signing final investment agreements for “at least two competitive industrial projects” in 2023.
Benali confirmed a Bloomberg report dating back to October on this by naming the Indian private business Adani Group as one among the companies considering the Moroccan hydrogen proposal.
“With Adani, we had some specific discussions and they came up with some very good ideas that we are looking at because they are aligned with the Moroccan vision on some specific aspects,” said Benali.
Last weekend, King Mohammed VI chaired the presentation ceremony of the new green investment program of the OCP Group (2023-2027) and the signing of the relevant protocol agreement between the government and the OCP group.
This counts as a huge step in Morocco’s transition towards green energies and a low-carbon economy.
After a crucial project called Midelt has not advanced for more than a year, Moroccan officials want to make sure that hydrogen ambitions do not repeat the mistakes of its solar energy development, according to Benali as read on Bloomberg
