A new grain ship has left Ukrainian ports in the application to the Istanbul Agreement, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced on Saturday.
Nine more ships are awaiting departure at Ukrainian ports due to unfavorable weather conditions in the region, according to the same source.
On July 22, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, and the United Nations signed the Initiative Document on the Security of Grain and Food Transport from Ukrainian Ports during a meeting in Istanbul.
The agreement included securing grain exports blocked in Ukrainian Black Sea (Eastern European) ports to the world.
Since the first vessel sailed under the deal on August 1, a total of 70 ships have carried over 1.6 million tons of agricultural products from Ukraine.
