Moroccan Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita has ordered the suspension of activity of the two diplomats involved in the Colombia incident, after they were presented to a disciplinary board before the central administration in Rabat.
Informed diplomatic sources told Hespress that the decision to suspend the activity of those concerned was taken as a strict administrative and legal measure.
The Moroccan Foreign Affairs Ministry had rushed to open an investigation in order to determine all details and the circumstances related to the incident.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry considered in a statement to Hespress that “these officials have offended the Ministry’s image.”
The two Moroccan diplomats were drugged and robbed by escorts in the Colombian capital of Bogota, local media reported.
Colombian media said that the diplomats had met the escorts online, before being drugged using Scopolamine.
Scopolamine, or Devil’s Breath, is a substance that is widely used by criminals in Colombia for its “zombifying” effect on victims, which renders them vulnerable to theft.
