The “Blood and Treasure” series, created by writers and producers Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia in 2019, takes its cameras and filming crew to Morocco again to film season 2.
The series is an action-adventure story that follows antiquities expert Danny McNamara and art thief Lexi Vaziri.
The series, an adaptation of Daniel Boone’s book, tells the story of two protagonists that teamed up to catch a terrorist who is using money from stolen art to fund his crimes.
Their criminal pursuit involves them in a battle that spans two millennia, and thereafter, the historic war for the cradle of civilization becomes part of the couple’s life.
The series features actors Matt Barr, Sofia Pernas, James Callis and Katia Winter, and takes viewers on a thrilling journey through the records of history, in which the plot keeps the audience spellbound.
Filming for Blood & Treasure is taking place in various locations around the world, including Canada, Italy, Ireland, the Vatican, and also Morocco.
Season 1 of the series was filmed in the summer of 2018, while production for the second season started in late 2019.
In Marrakech, the sets are used to shoot scenes taking place in countries such as Egypt, Iran or Saudi Arabia.
While taping the first season, the team built a 40-foot replica of the Great Pyramid of Giza near Marrakech in one day.
Tangier, on the other hand, was introduced in Season 1 as Vatican City.
The city of Detroit also served as the backdrop for multiple scenes supposed to take place in Havana, Cuba.
