Authorities revealed that Russian soldiers are sexually raping Ukrainian women.
“Russia is raping Ukraine,” the Ukrainian military said, “they are bombing our cities, plundering, murdering, raping women.”
The United Nations expressed its concern regarding the situation and called for protecting women against violence and rape in Ukraine during the war.
“We are increasingly hearing of rape and sexual violence.”
These allegations must be independently investigated to ensure justice and accountability,” Sima Bahous, the UN’s women’s agency’s director, said at a Security Council meeting in New York on Monday.
On the other hand, Russia has denied what it described as “accusations” and “a clear intention to present Russian soldiers as sadists and rapists.”
