Pope Francis of the Catholic Church, praised, on Sunday morning, the efforts of Moroccans to save the child Rayan, who was stuck in a well near Chefchaouen.
In his weekly address to St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis said he was “sad because the efforts of the Moroccan authorities did not succeed in saving the child Rayan.”
The Pope added: “However, the moments of rescue were beautiful, as the entire Moroccan people mobilized to save him in an operation that attracted the attention of the whole world.”
“We are used to hearing and seeing a lot of accidents, and ugly news through the media, but it was nice to see how Moroccans clung to each other to save Rayan,” the Pope said.
