Rescuers on Saturday night pulled Rayan out of the well in a heart-gripping scene that Moroccans and international viewers impatiently waited during the lengthy rescue operation. His physical condition is not yet clear.

The boy who remerged into the surface of the earth in the hands of rescuers was met with cries and cheers of the thousands of people present in the isolated village in Chefchaouen, northern Morocco.

5 years old Rayan was taken in an ambulance, with medical staff, and his p parents that had anxiously waited for their son’s return.

He was reportedly given Oxygen and water while in the well.

Volunteers, locals, engineers and topographers, local authorities all joined in to dig a horizontal tunnel to reach the bottom of the well where Rayan was.

By the end of the digging, the area looked like a construction site. They have quite literally moved a mountain.

Hashtag #SaveRayan is all over the internet in a great outpouring of solidarity with all the people on-site, and especially his family, loved ones, and the teams that were deployed to save this little boy.

Rayan’s father told public television 2M on Friday evening. “I thank everyone involved and those supporting us in Morocco and elsewhere.”
