Morocco’s Central Office of Judicial Research (BCIJ) arrested four additional people suspected of being related to the terrorist cell dismantled in Errachidia on September 14.
The arrests were made on September 16, 20 and 22, as the BCIJ continued to investigate active members in the Daesh-related cell.
Preliminary investigations showed that the cell members pledged allegiance to the alleged ISIS emir and engaged in a recruitment campaign for their cell, which they dubbed “Islamic Tawhid Group in Morocco.”
The cell’s members were preparing to carry out terror attacks targeting security and military facilities, as well as a specific list of security, military and administrative employees, the BCIJ added.
The BCIJ concluded that all arrested suspects, numbering so far seven, continue to be held in custody as investigations under the supervision of the public prosecutor continued.
The BCIJ had previously dismantled the Errachidia terrorist group on September 14, arresting three members, including the cell’s alleged Emir.
