The UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar condemned the terrorist plots Moroccan authorities said they foiled this week after dismantling a cell linked to the Islamic State group’s branch in the Sahel.

The three Gulf states issued separate statements backing Morocco and praising its security response after the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations said Monday it had arrested 10 people suspected of preparing attacks in coordination with ISIS-linked actors in the Sahel.

UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said Abu Dhabi strongly condemned the plots and stood in full solidarity with Morocco in any measures taken to protect its security, stability and residents.

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry said Riyadh rejected attempts to undermine public order or threaten people and property in Morocco. It also praised the efficiency of Moroccan security services and reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s rejection of terrorism and extremism.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said Doha condemned the plots aimed at destabilizing Morocco and endangering public safety. It also reiterated Qatar’s position rejecting violence and terrorism, regardless of motives, and expressed support for Morocco’s measures to preserve security and stability.

The condemnations followed Moroccan raids in several cities, including Agadir, Casablanca, Tetouan and Safi, where authorities said they seized weapons, military-style clothing, digital material and alleged bomb-making equipment.
