In full body armor, a former US Army sniper who severed in both Afghanistan and Iraq broke into two homes outside Lakeland, Florida, killing four people including a baby.

An 11-year-old was also wounded but survived the gunshots, according to US media reports.

Identified as Bryan Riley, the shooter continued to be aggressive even after his arrest. Authorities said that while on his hospital gurney, he tried to wrestle a gun from police.

“They begged for their lives and I killed them anyway,” Sheriff Grady Judd said Riley told them during an interrogation.

According to Judd, the former Marine’s victims were selected at random. His girlfriend mentioned to authorities that Riley had been delirious for weeks repeatedly, telling her he could “speak with God.”

On Saturday night, Riley appeared for the first time at his first victim’s house to later return, killing a 40-year-old man, a 33-year-old mother and her baby, Judd said. In the home next door, he also killed the 62-year-old mother of the woman.

During investigations, Riley admitted his fatal doings saying that voices and “God” asked him to do it.

“I want to confess to all of it and be sent to jail.” He allegedly said.
