A Moroccan citizens’ initiative has called for a six-hour nationwide suspension of vehicle use on Sunday, November 8, to protest rising fuel prices and their impact on household purchasing power.

The Citizens’ Initiative Committee for Fuel Price Caps announced the campaign, titled “Six Hours Without Transport,” encouraging motorists, employees, civil servants and transport professionals to leave their vehicles unused between noon and 6 p.m.

Taxi and truck drivers have also been invited to participate voluntarily.

Organizers said the protest seeks to pressure authorities to introduce fairer fuel pricing measures and reduce the financial burden on Moroccan families.

The committee emphasized that the action must remain peaceful and should not involve roadblocks or disruption to traffic.

Emergency vehicles, medical services and trucks transporting perishable goods should continue operating without obstruction, it added.

The initiative follows fresh diesel price increases introduced at the beginning of November.
