Morocco’s national security chief Abdellatif Hammouchi has ordered an exceptional promotion and full medical support for a police officer seriously injured in a deliberate vehicle attack while on duty in Agadir.
A senior security delegation visited the injured officer at Mohammed VI University Hospital in Agadir to assess his recovery, following direct instructions from Hammouchi, director-general of National Security and Territorial Surveillance.
The delegation included Agadir’s police prefect, the director of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Social Works of National Security Personnel, senior police health officials and human resources representatives.
Hammouchi instructed the relevant departments to cover all necessary medical treatment and provide additional support, while granting the injured policeman an exceptional promotion to the rank of police officer.
Medical staff reported that his condition was stable and that he was responding positively to treatment despite suffering serious fractures and injuries.
The officer was struck by a vehicle after three occupants, reportedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs, refused to comply with police instructions.
The three suspects were arrested and placed in custody pending a judicial investigation supervised by the public prosecutor’s office.
