National head coach Mohamed Ouahbi emphasized that Morocco aims to become the first African team to win the World Cup, according to public broadcaster SNRT.
Speaking after a CAF strategic conference in Cape Verde, Ouahbi noted that Morocco ranked among the top teams in several aspects of the game at the World Cup, citing a statistical review of African teams conducted by FIFA’s Arsène Wenger and his team.
He pointed to Atlas Lions’ performance in high pressing, possession, counterattacks, and defensive set pieces.
“We can feel that Morocco is now being listened to and followed. This shows that the country is doing very well,” Ouahbi said.
He also noted that Morocco must continue to draw lessons for itself while also exchanging with other African countries, adding that the team needs to play in high-level matches under very high standards.
