Several agreements were signed on the first day of the Marrakech Air Show 2026 between Moroccan institutions and international companies, covering aerospace research, industrial development and defense technologies.

One agreement aims to strengthen research and development through the African Center of Excellence in Manufacturing. It brings together the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the National Defense Administration, OCP Group and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, alongside Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Safran, Airbus and CETIM.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade and Royal Air Maroc also signed a cooperation agreement aimed at increasing the share of Moroccan-made products and components in the airline’s supply chain.

The ministry separately signed an agreement to establish a new industrial facility in Morocco for Safran Oil Systems, specializing in aircraft engine lubrication systems. The project involves the ministry responsible for investment and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE).

Another agreement was signed to develop next-generation counter-drone technologies in Morocco in cooperation with Harmattan AI. The partnership covers research and development, engineering, manufacturing, integration and testing, with the participation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the National Defense Administration, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Interior.

As part of efforts to strengthen Morocco’s defense capabilities, Abdellatif Loudiyi, minister delegate to the head of government in charge of the National Defense Administration, also oversaw the signing of a partnership declaration between the administration and Harmattan AI to develop a drone specifically for Morocco.
