Morocco were held to a 1-1 draw by Mali on Sunday evening at the Grand Stade de Tanger, ending their international window without a third consecutive victory.
The Atlas Lions took the lead in the 35th minute through Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, who converted a penalty after Check Keita was penalized inside the area. Morocco carried the advantage into halftime.
Mali responded after the break and found the equalizer in the 77th minute, when Gaoussou Diarra finished from an Amadou Dante cross.
Coach Mohammed Ouahbi made several changes late in the match, introducing players including Brahim Díaz and Soufiane Rahimi as Morocco pushed to regain the lead, but the hosts were unable to find a second goal.
The 1-1 result brought Morocco’s October international window to a close after wins over Gabon and Lesotho.
