FC Barcelona has announced plans to stage a pre-season friendly in Tangier on August 15 as part of its preparations for the 2026/27 campaign. The Catalan club said arrangements for the fixture are in the final stages.
The announcement followed a meeting of the club’s board of directors on Wednesday, where officials confirmed that discussions over the event have reached an advanced stage. The identity of the Moroccan opponent, however, has yet to be revealed and is expected to be announced once the remaining organizational details are finalized.
The match is likely to attract significant attention in Morocco, where Barcelona enjoys a large and passionate fan base. It will also give local supporters a rare opportunity to watch the Spanish giants in action ahead of the start of the new season.
During the same board meeting, Barcelona also reviewed several governance and financial matters. Club officials discussed holding a single General Assembly of delegate members that would combine both ordinary and extraordinary agenda items into one session, streamlining the decision-making process.
The board also continued work on finalizing the club’s financial statements for the 2025/26 fiscal year and preparing the budget for the 2026/27 season. Both are expected to be presented at a General Assembly planned for September, pending the completion of an external audit. The club said the meeting’s date and format will be confirmed once the auditing process is complete.
