Morocco’s women national football team head coach, Jorge Vilda, said on Friday in Rabat that the Atlas Lionnesses are preparing with rigor to earn the bronze medal of the Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON Morocco-2026), during the third place match against Algeria, to be held on Saturday at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.

During the pre-game press conference, Vilda said that the players have regained their balance and are now resolutely concentrating on the third place fixture, underscoring their determination to show great mental strength in order to end the competition with a victory.

He added that Morocco’s WAFCON campaign remains positive, stressing that the team aims to close off the competition on a positive result.

Vilda pointed out that the team has played five games during which it has shown a good competitive level and delivered multiple remarkable performances, noting that the statistics reflect the work accomplished by the players during the competition, mainly defensively.

For her part, national team player Hanane Ait El Haj stated that the players are preparing with a strong team spirit in order to regain their top form ahead of the next match.

She assured that the players are determined to give their all against Algeria, with the aim of delivering a strong performance and ending their participation in this competition on a positive note.

The women’s national team will face their Algerian counterparts on Saturday at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat (6:00 PM) in the WAFCON Morocco-2026 third-place play-off.
