Home advantage in focus as Morocco face Cameroon in WAFCON semi-final
Wednesday 12 August 2026 - 12:02

Morocco’s women’s national team will face Cameroon tonight in a high-stakes WAFCON 2026 semi-final, with a place in the final at stake.

Morocco will enter the match knowing that Cameroon cannot be underestimated, where the Indomitable Lionesses eliminated defending champions Nigeria in the quarter-finals, showing their ability to compete in tight knockout games and punish mistakes.

For Morocco, the key will be controlling the game without becoming predictable. The Atlas Lionesses are likely to have more possession, but Cameroon’s defensive organisation could make it difficult to create clear chances. Morocco will need quick movement, patience and better efficiency in the final third.

The midfield battle could also prove decisive. Morocco must prevent Cameroon from winning the ball and launching dangerous counterattacks, particularly if the hosts commit players forward.

Psychologically, the opening goal could change everything. If Morocco scores first, Cameroon will have to take more risks and leave spaces behind. But if the visitors strike first, Morocco could face an increasingly defensive opponent while dealing with the pressure of the home crowd.

Cameroon’s confidence and Morocco’s home advantage make this a difficult game to predict but for Morocco, the objective is clear, turn home advantage into another WAFCON final appearance.

The game is set to kickoff this evening Wednesday, August 12, at 09:00pm in Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat.
