A 17-year-old girl died after falling from a truck during celebrations in northern France following the national team’s 2-0 World Cup quarter-final victory over Morocco, local media reported Friday.

The teenager climbed onto the rear of the vehicle in the center of Aulnoye-Aymeries before falling and being run over, according to La Voix du Nord.

Emergency services pronounced her dead at the scene. Several bystanders were also treated, the newspaper reported.

Police detained the truck driver as investigators worked to establish the circumstances of the incident.

The celebrations began after France defeated Morocco at Gillette Stadium in Boston to advance to the World Cup semi-finals.

French authorities had deployed additional security measures ahead of the match, including drone surveillance, transport restrictions and a ban on fireworks in several gathering areas.

France will face the winner of the Spain-Belgium quarter-final.
