Moroccan security authorities have denied social media reports claiming that multiple homicides occurred in recent days in the neighborhoods of Azrou in Ait Melloul, Trast and Dcheira in the Inzegan security district, and Al Hassani in Agadir.
In a statement issued to clarify the situation, police said the incidents under investigation are limited to two fatal knife attacks, both of which have been the subject of judicial inquiries conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
The first case occurred on the evening of Eid al-Adha in the Azrou neighborhood of Ait Melloul. According to authorities, a man was fatally stabbed following a dispute linked to previous disagreements with the suspect. Security services arrested the suspect shortly after the incident and placed him under judicial investigation.
The second case was recorded during the early hours of the second day of Eid al-Adha in Agadir’s Al Hassani neighborhood. A 24-year-old man was attacked with a bladed weapon during an altercation that broke out at a parking area. The victim was transported to a hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities said investigations carried out in coordination with Morocco’s domestic intelligence service led to the arrest of the primary suspect in the second case. Police also seized clothing allegedly worn by the suspect that bore traces of blood. Efforts are continuing to identify and apprehend other individuals believed to have been involved.
Security officials stressed that reports circulating online about multiple killings in the areas mentioned are inaccurate. They emphasized that the incidents recorded are limited to the two cases currently under investigation and that all judicial procedures are proceeding in accordance with Moroccan law.
