Morocco aims to complete the 115,000-seat Hassan II Grand Stadium, expected to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup final, by the end of 2027, according to Reuters.

A director at the national agency in charge of infrastructure projects, Yassir Soussi, said the stadium is about 30% finished, with about 40% of the tribunes already built, just nine months after construction began.

“Work is being carried out around the clock in three shifts to meet the deadline,” Soussi told Reuters during a field visit.

The Grand Stade Hassan II is expected to be the world’s largest football stadium in a bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup final.

The stadium’s most striking feature is a giant white tent-like structure inspired by the concept of “Al Maousam,” a traditional Moroccan festival, designed by the British firm Populous to blend Moroccan heritage with modern architecture.

It will have a tent-shaped roof rising above the desert landscape, supported by an aluminum lattice frame, with both ends accommodating nearly 30,000 spectators each.

The project also includes five hospitality tiers, including a royal box, with capacity for up to 12,000 corporate guests.

The stadium will also feature 32 stairways leading to elevated gardens with panoramic views of the surrounding area, and will serve as the home ground for two local football clubs.

Soussi said the associated facilities at the Grand Stade Hassan II are expected to cost around $1 billion, with authorities planning new highways and a railway station to connect the stadium to Casablanca and Rabat.
