The Moroccan Association for Mathematical Sciences recently organized the second in-person training camp for the “Math Stars” program at the Regional Center for Education and Training Professions in Rabat.
This educational initiative aims to identify early mathematical talent among children aged 10 to 14. The participants qualified for this advanced stage following a series of remote preparatory sessions that began in January 2026.
Under the supervision of experts, the program trains these young minds in solving non-standard problems. The goal is to build a strong core for the national teams representing Morocco in upcoming international competitions, specifically the International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO) and the International Mathematics Competition (IMC).
The intensive training covered four mathematical domains, alongside interactive workshops in STEM and programming.
The event also featured an opening session outlining the program’s vision. This included a presentation by researcher and expert Alexey Kushnir on the importance of encouraging scientific excellence among the youth.
According to a press release from the Association, this in-person camp serves as the natural progression of a structured six-month remote training journey. The initiative proves that global success stems from continuous, methodical preparation rather than improvised or fleeting events.
By stepping away from traditional rote memorization, the program focuses heavily on deep problem-solving skills to develop genuine mathematical intelligence. Instead of receiving ready-made answers, students are trained to question complex problems, test hypotheses, and logically defend their solutions.
Organizers emphasized that tackling these challenges allows students to transition from superficial learning to deep comprehension. This approach ultimately transforms them from passive consumers of knowledge into independent, critical thinkers equipped for lifelong success.
