Morocco unveiled a new network aimed at digitalizing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) during the second day of the GITEX Africa 2026 technology exhibition.
The “DigiTPME” initiative seeks to accelerate the digital transformation of the country’s economic fabric and enhance the competitiveness of SMEs, officials said Wednesday.
The announcement was made in the presence of government officials and key figures from the national digital ecosystem. Amal Fallah Sgharouchni, Morocco’s Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Public Administration Reform, said digital transformation is no longer merely a technological challenge but a strategic lever for boosting competitiveness and creating value.
She noted that micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises make up over 95% of Morocco’s economic landscape and are key drivers of employment.
“Morocco Digital 2030 places these enterprises at the heart of its priorities,” Fallah said during the event. “The goal is no longer just to provide access to digital tools but to achieve a measurable, tangible, and sustainable transformation.”
She added that the country has made significant progress in recent years in developing digital infrastructure, enhancing emerging technology skills, and modernizing public services.
The newly launched DigiTPME network is designed as an organized and sustainable framework to coordinate collective efforts and maximize the impact of initiatives aimed at digitalizing enterprises.
The network will mobilize various actors, including government ministries, public institutions, regional investment centers, and private sector organizations, to foster a collaborative, intelligence-driven approach anchored at the local level.
“The network will practically strengthen support mechanisms, highlight best practices, and provide an integrated digitalization framework,” Fallah said. “It also aims to measure impact through data to better guide public policy. We plan to support over 1,200 enterprises starting in 2026, with gradual expansion nationwide, focusing on productivity, competitiveness, and market access.”
Idris Lamjaouri, Director of Business and Enterprise Digitalization at the ministry, said the initiative will unify and coordinate efforts across the national SME digital ecosystem, improve the effectiveness of existing support mechanisms, and establish a sustainable, organized framework for collaboration.
He added that DigiTPME will also serve as a platform for exchanging experiences, sharing best practices, and promoting regional-level cooperation.
The launch reflects Morocco’s ambition to position itself as a reference actor in comprehensive digital transformation at both national and African levels, while promoting South-South collaboration and sharing digital solutions suited to the continent. Officials hope that broad participation from all partners will turn digitalization into a tangible lever for enhancing SME competitiveness, driving economic growth, and creating new employment opportunities.
