The US Congress bill seeking to list the Polisario Front as a foreign terrorist organization continues to gain momentum.

On April 6, Republican Representative Maria Elvira Salazar announced her support for the measure, originally introduced in June 2025 by Senator Joe Wilson and Representative Jimmy Panetta. This follows a recent endorsement by Republican Representative Elise Stefanik.

Salazar, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and chair of its Western Hemisphere subcommittee, brings added weight to the initiative.

Since its introduction, the House bill has garnered 11 sponsors, while a similar Senate proposal led by Republican Senator Ted Cruz has secured the backing of four senators, highlighting growing congressional interest in the issue.
