Twelve American K–12 teachers arrived in Morocco on March 27 as part of the 2026 Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms program, said the Moroccan-American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange in a statement.
The two-week program, organized by the Moroccan-American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange, runs through April 11. During the exchange, participants will visit schools in Rabat, Casablanca, El Jadida, Marrakech, Tangier, and Laayoune.
The program is part of a year-long professional development initiative that includes online training and in-person sessions in Washington, D.C., before the overseas placement. Teachers also develop a global education guide to share with their home communities.
In Morocco, the cohort is attending lectures on the national education system, Morocco’s linguistic landscape, Amazigh culture, artificial intelligence in schools, and U.S.–Moroccan relations. Participants are visiting a range of educational institutions, including the École Normale Supérieure, Colegio Español, and Rabat American School.
Rebecca Geffner, executive director of MACECE, said the program allows American educators to experience Moroccan classrooms and communities and strengthen ties between the two countries.
The 2026 exchange coincides with the 250th anniversary of U.S.–Morocco diplomatic relations and the 80th anniversary of the Fulbright Program.
