Dutch prosecutors have placed Nora Taghi, the sister of convicted crime boss Ridouan Taghi, on an international wanted list and believe she may have fled to Morocco, according to Dutch media reports published after a court hearing in the case of former lawyer Inez Weski.
RTL said prosecutors told the court on Thursday that Nora Taghi, 48, is suspected of taking part in the same criminal organisation linked to international drug trafficking and money laundering.
NOS separately reported that prosecutors are seeking a 4.5 year prison sentence for Weski and said the case centres on alleged message passing between Ridouan Taghi and the outside world.
RTL reported that prosecutors consider Nora Taghi to have played an important role in communications between Weski and Faissal T., Ridouan Taghi’s son, who was sentenced in January to six years in prison for membership in the criminal organisation.
The report also said Nora Taghi had previously been arrested in December 2019 on suspicion of money laundering but was not prosecuted at the time for lack of evidence.
Ridouan Taghi has been identified as the figure behind the 2017 Café La Crème shooting in Marrakech, for which Dutch suspects were later convicted in Morocco.
