Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology has warned that several regions across the country will experience unstable weather starting Friday morning, including strong thunderstorms and snowfall, under an orange-level alert.
In its advisory, the agency said rainfall between 20 and 30 millimeters, accompanied by hail, is expected in the provinces of Al Haouz, Chefchaouen, Khénifra and Azilal, as well as Figuig, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Zagora, Tinghir, Tata, Errachidia, Midelt and Khouribga.
The weather conditions are forecast to begin at 10 a.m. Friday and continue until 1 a.m. Saturday.
Snowfall is also expected at elevations above 2,500 meters, with accumulations ranging from 10 to 15 centimeters, particularly in the provinces of Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Azilal and Midelt.
The agency said the conditions are part of recurring spring weather disturbances often linked to cold air masses moving in from the north, leading to sharp temperature variations and the formation of storm clouds, especially in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas.
Authorities urged residents, particularly in affected regions, to exercise caution due to the risk of localized flooding and difficult travel conditions in higher elevations.
